There has to be a million and one ways to cook rice. If all you ever do is white rice, jollof, coconut and fried rice then my dear, you are only scratching the surface. We easily tire of rice because we do not cook it in different ways. Monotony kills appetite. The way we present food is also proven to account for whether or not the meal induces hunger or chases it away.
These rice recipes are, however, bound to induce hunger. Just try them and see.
1. Dodo and suya salsa with rice cakes
This dish is a mixture of fried plantain and chopped meat that have been stir-fried along with ingredients like green pepper, tatashe (bell pepper), tomatoes, small pepper and spring onions into a sauce. The well-spiced sauce is the placed on top of rice cakes. Prepare the rice cake by parboiling the rice, washing it then salting it. Put in tins or any other available container, depending on the shape you want then boil properly.
2. Oven rice
Here you preheat the oven to 165 degrees Celsius. Coat your baking pan with butter then pour washed rice into the pan. In a saucepan, stir some water, salt, butter, and vinegar. Bring to boil then add to the rice and bake for about 20-25 minutes till all the water is absorbed. The rice should be tender at this point so serve with snail stew. You will love it!
3. Banga rice
This traditional rice recipe is just the thing. Dissolve the palm fruit extract in enough water to cook the rice. Add meat stock, banga spices, onions, pepper, crayfish, salt, seasoning cubes and smoked fish. Add the washed rice and leave to absorb the water then turn off heat. If rice is not properly cooked, cover with foil paper so that the steam will finish the job.
Go into the world and try these recipes!
